{"id":876,"date":"2015-07-28T10:20:13","date_gmt":"2015-07-28T17:20:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mkreative.org\/babe\/?p=876"},"modified":"2015-10-06T11:03:55","modified_gmt":"2015-10-06T18:03:55","slug":"halfway-to-1k","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mkreative.org\/babe\/halfway-to-1k\/","title":{"rendered":"Pixel Quilt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There&#8217;s a re-occurring theme this year that has me looking back to techniques I first learned during my undergrad years.<\/p>\n<p>During another fun Quilty workshop today, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sandrabruce.com\/1\/home.html\" target=\"_blank\">Sandra Bruce <\/a>teaches her technique, \u201cMaterial Matrix,\u201d which involves interpreting gridded photo into pieced quilts, like this fun little cup and saucer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mkreative.org\/babe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/2015PixelQuilt.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-995 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mkreative.org\/babe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/2015PixelQuilt-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"2015PixelQuilt\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mkreative.org\/babe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/2015PixelQuilt-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.mkreative.org\/babe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/2015PixelQuilt.jpg 432w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a>This technique reminds me of working on large-scale murals in college. Now, I find it helpful in piecing gentle curves in bite-sized pieces. When she states that this process \u201cinvolves piecing in a loose, representational style inspired by the painter, Chuck Close,\u201d I feel like I\u2019ve truly come full circle.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m still working on my little Cup o\u2019Tea.
